Transferred Students

The process for transfer students requires the evaluation of transcripts from all universities or university institutions where they have studied.

12 credits or more

If a student has 12 or more credits to transfer (see the Transfer Credit Transfer section of the Catalog), they must submit transcript(s) of credits from their previous university(ies). All transcripts must be issued in favor of Antillean University, with an official seal and signature. The student must provide course descriptions to the Registrar’s Office for evaluation of possible transfer. The student’s GPA from their previous university will be considered, and they will be deemed a transfer student.

11 credits or less

If a student has 11 or fewer credits to transfer, they will be required to submit transcripts from their previous university(ies) and transcripts from their high school. They will be accepted with their high school GPA, credit transfer will be evaluated, and they will be considered a freshman. The student must provide course descriptions to the Registrar’s Office for evaluation of possible transfer.

Credits in technical courses

If the student has credits for technical courses, they must provide transcript(s). These will be used exclusively for admission GPA purposes and not for credit transfer.

Credits at accredited institutions

If the student has credits from accredited institutions, they must provide transcripts and course descriptions for evaluation of possible credit transfer at the Registrar’s Office. They will be considered a transfer student or a “freshman” depending on the number of credits reported on the transcript received.

Other considerations

Transfer students must meet the following requirements:

• Submit the Application for Admission.
• Have a minimum average of 2.00 – 2.50 points in the university studies already completed (depending on the program you wish to enter).
• Provide an official transcript of credits from each university or college of origin.
• Provide a copy of the catalog of the university(ies) or college(s) from which you wish to transfer the credits.
• Submit a recommendation completed by the Dean of Student Affairs of the last institution of origin, if you have not completed a degree.
• Pay the Admission Fee—certified check or money order for $20.00 payable to Antillean University, or by credit card at the Accounting Department, or via PayPal. (Non-refundable)

Additional Requirements Department of Theology

• Regular Recommendations (2 – elderly and pastor – Not family and known for more than 1 year)
• Letter from Parishioners
• Copy of Baptismal Certificate (Theology) – You must present evidence of 2 years or more of baptism.
• Departmental Interview
• Criminal Record Certificate

International Students

All international students who are not citizens or permanent residents of the United States must complete the admission requirements according to their status as students requiring an F1 visa.

Services Offered

Office of Student Affairs

The Office of Student Affairs serves international students while they are in the United States and Puerto Rico, providing guidance regarding university life, as well as everything related to their rights and responsibilities in accordance with immigration regulations.

Financial Responsibilities:

You need to carefully plan your finances so that you can successfully complete your studies.

Health Insurance:
Enrolled international students are required to have health insurance. The university offers the SSBV Health Plan.

Accommodation:
Dormitories: For students under 21.
Apartments: Available for married students accompanied by their family.
Outside of the university: You can find rooms and apartments in the community for reasonable prices.

Homeschooling

In keeping with the philosophy of Adventist education, and taking into account the applicable regulations in Puerto Rico and the United States, homeschooled students who complete the requirements listed below will be admitted.

• Certificate of Good Conduct or Criminal Record (Theology, Nursing and Respiratory Therapy)
• Affidavit or under umbrella school to be considered official

Others

• Provide evidence of having completed a program of study equivalent to a high school diploma in Puerto Rico. The equivalency must be certified by the Puerto Rico Department of Education.
• If the student does not have certification from the Puerto Rico Department of Education, the parent or guardian must submit a sworn statement serving as a Homeschooling Certification; or a Homeschooling Certification issued by a recognized educational institution (umbrella school). Evidence of official College Board, ACT, or SAT 1 and 2 college admissions test scores of 500 or higher is also required.
• If necessary, the Admissions Office may require an interview with the student and their parents or guardians, if the student is a minor.

Non-Degree Students

Special Education students must complete the Application for Admission and the regular admission requirements, except for the recommendations required for the School of Religion. Under the special education student category, applicants must pay the corresponding tuition fees since they do not qualify for federal aid.

Early admission

This program is designed for gifted high school students whose abilities demonstrate their academic and social motivation for college-level studies. Students in this category are provisionally admitted, subject to satisfactory completion of high school diploma requirements, and are classified as “Special Early Admission Students.” They are not eligible for federal aid.

Minimum requirements

1. Radicar Solicitud de Admisión.
2. A high school GPA of 3.50.
3. A written recommendation from the Principal or Counselor of the High School where the student is enrolled (which attests to the student’s maturity and ability to perform tasks required of a student at the post-secondary level).

The privilege of being in the Early Admission Program is lost when the student fails to maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 in each session at Antillean (according to the program of interest) and a general GPA of 3.00 in the High School.

Upon graduation from high school, students must submit the Antillean Application for Admission, provide a transcript with grade point average and graduation date, and complete additional admission requirements.

Credits approved for the Early Admission Program will appear on the student’s Permanent Record. You may enroll in up to six credits per academic session, including summer classes. Classes may be taught at Adventist or Antillean Academies.

Provisional Admission

We offer newly admitted students who do not meet the required average to be admitted to an undergraduate program of study the opportunity to study under this innovative program.

All students must submit a letter addressed to the Admissions Committee for evaluation. Readmissions will be evaluated by the PAS (Satisfactory Academic Progress) Committee. If accepted, students will be granted Provisional Admission for one academic term, provided they sign the Conditional Contract and demonstrate satisfactory academic progress by the end of that term. Students in the Early Admission category who have not completed high school will be admitted under the Provisional Admission category.

It is a requirement for all students admitted on a provisional basis to sign a Conditional Contract. This contract will be signed by the student, the assigned academic advisor, and the Director or Assistant Director of the Admissions Office.

Readmission

Students who have discontinued their studies for one semester or more must apply for readmission to the Admissions Office. Students applying for readmission must make the necessary financial arrangements with the institution, including the return of any overpayments for scholarships and the payment of any outstanding debts.

Requirements

• Complete the Application for Admission.
• Credit transcripts from all institutions you have studied at with a minimum average of 2.00 to 2.50.
• Dean’s Recommendation.
• Pay readmission fee of $15.00.
• Interview with the Department Director (religion students only).
• Theology students who have been away from Antillean University for a semester must submit a letter of recommendation from a church leader. If they have been away from Antillean University for more than a semester, they must complete all admissions and health services documents again, among others.
• If the readmitted student has interrupted their studies at Antillean for two years or more, they must abide by the Catalog, rules and regulations in force at the time of their readmission.
