PROFESSIONAL LICENSURE & CERTIFICATION DISCLOSURES FOR HEALTHCARE PROGRAMS

The curriculum for several degree programs at Antillean Adventist University (AAU) have been designed to meet the licensure/certification requirements in Puerto Rico and prepare students to sit for licensure exams in Puerto Rico. The various licensure boards in each state are responsible for setting requirements for licensure/certification in their state, and distance students with the intent of returning or moving to any state or territory other than Puerto Rico should be aware of the unique requirements for that state.

If considering an academic program that leads to professional licensure (example: Nursing and Respiratory Care), it is recommended students first contact the appropriate licensing agency in their home state before starting a program outside their state of residency. It is the student’s responsibility to contact the appropriate licensing entity in the student’s home state to confirm whether an AAU program will meet licensure requirements in that state.

Students seeking to establish licensure outside Puerto Rico can find information pertaining to the licensure requirements in your state. Students are encouraged to engage with an academic advisor before beginning any academic program that would lead to licensure to best understand the licensure program in their intended state of residence.

Antillean Adventist University makes every effort to ensure information about educational requirements for licensure or certification is current; however, state requirements may change. Separate from educational requirements, state licensure boards may require applicants to complete professional examinations, background checks, years of professional experience, residence requirements, jurisprudence exams, training, etc. Therefore, if you are planning to pursue professional licensure or certification in a state other than Puerto Rico, it is strongly recommended that you contact the appropriate licensing entity in that state to seek information and guidance regarding licensure or certification requirements before beginning an academic program.

DISCLOSURE STATEMENT FOR NURSING PROGRAMS

The practice of Nursing requires a professional license. Each state and US territory has its own standards to sit for the professional licensure exam (NCLEX) and/or to transfer a license from one state/territory into its state/territory.

This information provides you a list of those states and territories where this institution has determined that its nursing curriculum either meets the educational requirements for licensure, does not meet the educational requirements for licensure, or no determination could be made whether it meets or does not meet the educational requirements for licensure.

Also, understand that in the states/territories where the institution has made the determination that its curriculum meets the educational requirements for licensure, this does not mean that this is the only requirement to be licensed in that state/territory. Every state/territory likely will have additional requirements to be licensed in that state/territory. To assist you in deciding whether to apply to this Nursing Program, we have provided you a list of states and territories and their respective contact information for the nursing governing boards, where available.

We encourage you to contact the licensing governing body in the state or territory in which you desire to become licensed or intend to work to seek additional information before enrolling in any of our Nursing Programs.
