The Cardiopulmonary Science Program at Antillean Adventist University, CoARC # 200621, Bachelor of Science degree, Mayaguez campus, holds Provisional Accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (www.coarc.com).
Students who complete our program are considered graduates of a program accredited by CoARC. The program is recognized by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) with eligibility to take national examinations and specialty credentials. This program allows future Respiratory Care Practitioners obtain professional credentials; CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) and RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist), as well as specialty credentials; NPS (Neonatal Pediatric Specialist), CPFT (Certified Pulmonary Function Technologist), RPFT (Registered Pulmonary Function Technologist), ACCS (Adult Critical Care Specialist), SDS (Sleep Disorders Testing and Therapeutic Intervention Respiratory Care Specialist), among others. By obtaining these credentials, Respiratory Therapists demonstrate a higher level of knowledge and commitment to patient care, as well as greater competence in the specialty areas and a higher level of dedication to excellence in Respiratory Care.
CoARC accredits respiratory therapy education programs in the United States. To achieve this end, it utilizes an ‘outcomes based’ process. Programmatic outcomes are performance indicators that reflect the extent to which the educational goals of the program are achieved and by which program effectiveness is documented.
