Christ for Congo (C4C) Ministries

06/02/2008

Mission
To give hope to the Congolese people both for this world and the world to come from the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual perspectives.

What is the C4C all about?
Christ for Congo (C4C) Ministries is a non-profit organization that brings together professionals, doctors, professors, students, and common people once a year to travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Central Africa, to touch the lives of Congolese people through public evangelism, Bible studies, radio programs, music programs, university teaching, educational workshops, children programs, health programs, and clinic, church, and school building activities.

History of C4C
The C4C story begins with the miraculous meeting of its two founders Dr. Safary Wa-Mbaleka and Mr. Gary Roberts on October 7, 2006 at Antillean Adventist University (UAA), Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. Dr. Wa-Mbaleka was born and raised in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where Mr. Roberts’ parents were missionaries for several years. Mr. Roberts, an American by birth, had flown through Puerto Rico with Pr. David Gates on their way to South America. They both decided to spend the Sabbath at Antillean University Church, sharing their experiences of faith in the missionary field in South America through their Gospel Ministries International. From that long afternoon discussion, both founders agreed that the meeting was not by chance. The idea of Christ for Congo Ministries began on that day. First, it was for these two to go in 2007 to the DRC to do God’s work for two weeks. The C4C Team began immediately to expand as Dr. Wa-Mbaleka shared this vision to the students and professors at Antillean Adventist University. In the end, 17 adults and 5 children joined the first C4C Project from June 9 through 30, 2008.

Joining and Growth
For UAA students and professors who would like to join, they just need to talk to one of the C4C members who have gone to the DRC or to contact the C4C Director to provide the necessary information. People can join by promoting the C4C Ministries in their church or at their school, raising funds for the C4C Ministries, or by participating in the yearly projects held in the DRC every summer (June or July). As you will hear this from several C4C members, the experience to go to the DRC is a life-changing experience that definitely helps one build his/her faith and understand better the need for humans to reach for other suffering humans. C4C is a faith-building organization.
