During the week-end of January 18-20 of the current year, the AAU's Alumni Association joyfully hosted the 50th Anniversary of the Puerto Rican Adventist College with former students and friends.
The activity, under the leadership of Mrs. Alida Leonor-Slentz was a smashing success. The week-end's central theme was that of Returning Home, with the underlying hope of attracting those ex-alumnae who for some reason had strayed from the Lord's paths. Visitors arrived from Maryland, California, Pennsylvania, Florida, and from accross Puerto Rico. The week-end was dedicated to the PAC and to the graduating class of 1990. It was quite an emotional experience to enjoy the presence of our college's (currently, Antillean Adventist University) first President, Mr. Donovan Olson, and his family, who visited us from Minnesota and California. The inspirational speakers invited were Dr. Miguel A. González and Dr. Israel Recio, who presented themes of consecration and extended a call to all present to accept the Lord's invitation to Return Home.
As part of the week-end program, a mock train station was built, where all visitors might Register. We had the privilege of listening to PAC's first choir, directed by Dr. Elercia Jorge de Pérez, and of having a typical Puerto Rican music concert Sabbath evening. The mayor of Mayagüez, the Honorable José Guillermo Rodríguez, supplied us with two school busses, with tour guides, sponsored by the City Council to conclude Sunday's activities with a tour of the city, including a trip to the Eugenio María de Hostos Museum. All participants were impressed and well pleased with the activity. Our deepest thanks go to the Almighty God who helped us and accompanied us through His Holy Sprint.
