Antillean in keeping with its interest to provide excellence in academics has aligned itself with the Consortium of Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS). This consortium aims to “advance the use of technologies through cooperating with the goals of learning while meeting the challenges and proposing suitable developments for advancing post secondary education”.
Hispanic Educational Technology Services (HETS) is the “first bilingual consortium for distance learning dedicated to meeting the needs of higher learning within the Latino community”. The consortium consists of more than twenty-five institutional members who represent national educational leaders (NY, CA, TX, FL, NJ, NM, PA, IL) as well as international members (Puerto Rico and Columbia).
Both students and professors benefit greatly from their affiliation with HETS. By browsing www.hets.org students and professors are exposed an abundance of valuable information. Through accessing http://www.virtualplaza.org students are able to find information about academic support, student life and sports. In the area of academic support students also have the opportunity to access the Testing and Educational Reference Center where they can choose from any number of professional and pre-professional exams for review. Students are able to prepare for exams such as MCAT, GRE, NCLEX, TOEFL and more.
The benefits to the faculty include the ability to participate in a wide variety of collaborative initiatives, professional development, teaching methods, research and current information on new ideas in higher education as well as distance learning.
