Academic Track

HUEN 101 English Fundamentals I: provides learners with the basic vocabulary needed for informal speaking and listening. It has no prerequisite. LOEP score: 0 - 30.

HUEN 102 English Fundamentals II: in addition to the knowledge from HUEN 101, it provides fundamental knowledge of English verbal and sound systems. Prerequisite: HUEN 101 or LOEP score: 31 - 45

HUEN 103 Intermediate English: introduces learners to the different ways of verb usage and to basic reading and writing skills. Prerequisite: HUEN 102 or LOEP score: 46 - 60

HUEN 121 Advanced English: introduces learners to parts of speech, elements of composition, and college reading skills. Prerequisite: HUEN 103 or LOEP score: 61 - 75

Professional Track

ESL 101 English Fundamentals I: provides learners with the basic vocabulary needed for informal speaking and listening. It has no prerequisite. LOEP score: 0 - 30.

ESL 103 Intermediate English: introduces learners to the different ways of verb usage and to basic reading and writing skills. Prerequisite: ESL 102 or LOEP score: 46 - 60

ESL 121 Advanced English: introduces learners to parts of speech, elements of composition, and college reading skills. This course can be taken concurrently with ESL 201. Prerequisite: ESL 103 or LOEP score: 61 – 75

ESL 201 Reading Discoveries: introduces learners to reading comprehension skills and to topics related to the US culture. Prerequisite: ESL 121 or LOEP score: 76 - 89.

ESL 202 Business English: – introduces learners to skills needed to communicate in the corporate world both speaking and listening. Prerequisite: ESL 121 or LOEP score: 76 - 89

ESL 203 TOEFL Preparation: helps learners to review English grammar and to develop study skills needed to take the TOEFL test. Prerequisite: Prerequisite: ESL 121 or LOEP score: 76 - 89.

Note: Any two of the last three courses can be taken concurrently.
